Morning
Leaving your Hotel at 08.30am you will travel to the Samboja Lestari 1200 hectare reserve. At the
heart of the reserve is Samboja Lodge where you will receive your welcome drink. After a short rest
we then climb to the “Tree House” where you guide will give you on Overview of the worlds largest
and most famous primate rescue operation. This is your chance to learn what it takes to save a species
and the rainforest. Leaving the lodge, you will now begin your walking tour to visit the orangutan
island and sun bear sanctuary, returning to the Lodge for lunch.
Afternoon
After a traditional Indonesian lunch, you will continue your tour to visit other important facilities of
the BOS Project including the composting center, the nursery and the BOS Offices with its satellite
transponder. Finally you will plant your own tree before returning back to the Lodge for refreshments
departing for Balikpapan around 4.00pm. BOS is an ethnically operated project and the donation from
your visit goes directly to subsidizing the cost of Orangutan rehabilition so that someday the
Orangutan will be free again.
